Crossing into the new yearThe year 2014 has finally come to a close and what an amazing year it has been! I’m closer now than I have ever been to finally getting my novel published and into the hands of readers like you. So many people have shown me an incredible amount support during this journey of becoming an author, and I want to personally thank each of you for giving me the strength to keep pressing forward toward my dreams.

This last year has also been a time of growth for me as an individual and as a writer. I have learned so much about myself, life and my purpose as I’ve worked through the challenges, opportunities and disappointments that came my way. I’m more convinced now, than I have ever been, that I want to be a novelist. There are stories in me that want to be told. Whether or not anyone will like those stories is yet to be seen, but I feel in my heart this is a work I need to do.

The new year brings with it a chance to start anew. It’s a time of renewal, a time of hope and a time of promise. It can be energizing to leave behind the weight of the past year and look forward to all the possibilities the future holds. Some people use this time to make new resolutions or goals for the upcoming year. I want to use this time to realign my actions with my goals, so I will be back on the path to reaching them. Not sidetracked or overwhelmed with unimportant things.

I want to share with you a poem I wrote when I was a teenager. It’s about seeing life’s possibilities.

Through The Window
By Bonnie Clark

Through the window I can see,
the person that I want to be.
She’s smart and strong and not afraid,
to chance the choices that she’s made.
She’s true to who she is inside,
so’ll never be dissatisfied.
She won’t look back and have regret,
for things she didn’t do or get.
I slide my finger down the glass,
and contemplate how time will pass.
Will I become that girl I see?
Or will the glass keep her from me.

Don’t let “the glass” keep you from becoming the person you are meant to be. Dream it, do it, live it! Let’s make 2015 a year to remember. One in which we can be proud of who we’ve become and the things that we’ve done!
